
The Northeast Illinois Council provides year round camping opportunities at our 2 camp properties. Local Adventures and camporees are hosted at Camp Crown, summer camp and High Adventure Treks are hosted at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation.
The Northeast Illinois Council also provides local activities throughout the year to keep Scouts engaged. All of the below programs are also open to Venturers & Sea Scouts.

- Attending camp at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan is one of the capstone experiences of being a Scout in the Northeast Illinois Council. Located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan is known nationally for delivering excellent residentcamp programs. The best place to learn about the different activities offered at Ma-Ka-J a-Wan is our camp website. This is also where you'll find forms, instructions for leaders and parents, as well as MSR history and alumni information.
Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan High Adventure Treks
Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation’s Nationally Accredited High Adventure Base offers treks for Scouts age 13+. Whether your unit wants to take in vistas on foot, paddle through clear waters, or sail on Lake Superior, there's a trek for every kind of adventure. If you don’t see a trek that you like, contact our Program Director for information on custom trek options. We also offer in-camp day trips designed to complement your resident camp experience.

For more than 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. Arrowmen and women are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long-term overnight camp, and providing cheerful service to others. Camp Crown Local Adventure Weekends
Camp Crown hosts open outdoor programs each year! Take part in Archery, Air Rifle/BB Gun, Portable Climbing Wall, BMX Pump Track, Fat Tire trail bikes, and the Pioneering Kit. Unit-led self-directed activities are also open for Geocaching, nature study, bird study, and tree identification games for Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA.

Klondike Derby
Camp Sol R. Crown | Trevor, WI
The Klondike Derby is a day of fun and friendly competition in the snow (or mud--you never know with Midwest winters). Troops compete against each other in different activities like obstacle courses, sled racing, and first aid, and must carry all their supplies on their troop-designed sled. This is one of our most popular Scouts BSA activities. Troops can camp Friday and/or Saturday night, or just stay for the day.

First Aid Meet
St. Joseph School | Wilmette, IL
The First Aid Meet is an event that challenges Scout patrols to perform first aid in simulated real-life situations. Patrols compete in practical first aid problems, displaying hands-on skills from the Scout Handbook, First Aid Merit Badge pamphlet, and current American Red Cross guidelines.

Reservations

New: The Rodger and Dorothy Landgraf Family Village at Camp Sol R. Crown. Conveniently located by Miller Cabin, this new camping area features ten 4-person cabins (no electricity), a large pavilion with 2 charcoal grills, and a fire pit. It is a perfect campsite for units that desire cabin camping but need flexibility for mixed-gender groups. The Boy Scouts of America operate four national high adventure bases, each featuring different pinnacle experiences for Scouts 14+. Scouts can hike mountain vistas at Philmont, canoe the boundary waters at Northern Tier, scuba and sail at Sea Base, or experience the best of classic BSA programs at Summit Bechtel Reserve. International Scouting
Scouting is happening all over the world–there are National Scout Organizations representing their home countries and delivering the promise of Scouting in virtually all areas and regions globally. The BSA International Department helps Scouts and Leaders connect with other Scouts worldwide through the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). Scouts from the United States can attend a variety of Scouting events across the world.
